This project was inspired by Doug Myer's personal 1958 Gibson Les Paul Junior. It is an exceptionally fine example of an LP Junior in terms or raw tone and comfortable playability. From that example, Potvin Guitars made the first small batch of Project 58's, which were finished to look as new. These guitars were very well received and continued to be cherished by their owners.
Realizing that the guitars could be made closer to the original specification and desiring a more worn in look, Protocaster Guitars was enlisted to finish the guitars in a gently aged fashion. This small batch was limited to just four and this Project 58's serial number is "8 1902".
I was first impressed with this guitar's well-loved and well-played vintage look. I was then blown away by the feel of the substantial yet totally comfortable neck. Once I heard its long sustain and lively tone, I knew was a very special guitar. It has all the mojo of the few remaining, stellar examples of late-50's Juniors.
