The Columbia Reverb, Deltone Reverb, and Evertone Reverb amps constitute Louis Electric's Black Line series and emulate the beautiful sounds of the pre-CBS Blackface amplifiers. The Columbia Reverb amp is a single 12" combo with a standard tube compliment of two 6V6's for 18 watts or the option of two 6L6's for 28 watts. It is a single-channel amp with two inputs.
The Columbia Reverb was based on the 1964 Princeton Reverb's AA1164 circuit. The tremolo circuit was slightly modified for a deeper and richer sound. The reverb circuit has also been modified to deliver a smoother, less intense reverb sound.
The original Princeton Reverb had volume, treble and bass controls. Louis Electric has added a middle control knob to give the Columbia Reverb additional tone shaping capabilities. Additionally, the Columbia Reverb utilizes a 12" speaker instead of the standard 10" found in the Princeton Reverb. This is a common modification made to enhance those essential lower-mid frequencies.
Also setting the Columbia Reverb apart is a 4k/8k speaker load option. This allows the player to simply switch the load to provide a cleaner or more distorted sound. The 4k option provides cleaner tones, while the 8k will lower the wattage and provide quicker midrange break up.
Distortion Brothers offers the Columbia Reverb with the standard pair of 6V6 power tubes resulting in 18 watts or the optional pair of 6L6 power tubes for 28 watts of output power. This custom option is no additional cost.
